Manchester United are keen on getting Erling Haaland to sign a new contract and stay on at the club.
The club hopes Erling Haaland will agree to a £100million package following Pep Guardiola’s decision to extend his contract by a year.
Haaland, 24, joined the club in 2022 and still has two-and-a-half years left on a deal worth £375,000 a week before bonuses. His weekly wage means he banks over £20m a season.
Haaland agreeing to the new contract will remain at City for four or five more years, eventually pocketing about £100m without even considering his bonuses.
Guardiola and Etihad chiefs would love to get him to commit his long-term future to them.
“I hope Pep signs a new contract. He has been important for me in the first two-and-a-half years. I hope he stays longer. I like Pep a lot and hope he likes me, too,” Haaland said during the Nations League tournament.
His comment and the decision of Pep to stay on at City has been considered a sign by the club’s die hard fans that their ‘darling boy’ will also extend his contract for a few more years.
Erling Haaland who already has 105 goals under his belt for City has been linked with a move to Barcelona.
