President Akufo-Addo has urged the Savanna House of Chiefs to make their son Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia the next president of Ghana.
Addressing the Savannah House of Chiefs during the President’s tour of the region, he urged the people of the Northeast to come together and support Bawumia because of his quality not because he is a Mamprusi.
He said, “I am very concerned about who is coming to sit, and I am urging your Son on you, I am urging all of you here in the Northeast region to come together as one and put your shoulders to the wheel and make your son Mahamudu Bawumia the next president of Ghana”.
President Akufo-Addo added that he is here to ask for support for him not because he is a Mamprusi but because of his quality.
“This man has the quality to be the next president of Ghana, if there is anybody who can testify to his capacity, his ability his sense of duty it is me Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo”. Akufo-Addo added.
President further added that he knew Bawumia when he was the deputy governor of Bank of Ghana very efficient and highly regarded economist.
President Akufo-Addo also revealed how Bawumia was proposed to him to be his running mate,“ In 2008 when I was looking for a running mate, he proposed to me and I accepted it gladly since then up to today we have worked hand in hand, both in 8 years in opposition and in the 8 years in government”
