John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed strong concerns over the disqualification of candidates from the People’s National Convention (PNC) from the upcoming ballot.
This comes on the heels of accusations from PNC National Chairman Samson Asaki Awingobit, who claimed the NDC has abandoned the PNC following their disqualification, citing a lack of outreach or support after the exclusion of their presidential candidate, Bernard Mornah.
Speaking to supporters in Funsi, Wa East, Mahama stated, “There are 13 people who were qualified to be on the ballot paper. Unfortunately, our brothers in the PNC were wrongfully disqualified.
I do not understand how come the PNC were not allowed to be on this ballot paper.” He emphasized, “The PNC is a more worthy party than several parties that I see here on the ballot paper.”
Mahama went on to criticize the Electoral Commission, suggesting that it sometimes acts in a discriminatory manner:
“Sometimes they are discriminatory because there are some people on this ballot paper who Bernard Mornah qualifies more to be here than those people.”
He acknowledged that his comments might provoke controversy but insisted on their validity.
