The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned the Mamobi clash between the NDC and the NPP
At least nine people sustained injuries following a violent confrontation between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Mamobi, a suburb of Accra, on Sunday (13 October).
Speaking at a campaign engagement John Mahama reacted to the development the flagbearer of the NDC said, “The other day in Mamobi, I hear it was a result of a health walk, the two-opposition party clashed, even if there was a clash it maybe would not have led to lost of lives, but people have had weapons and they fired shots and injured people”.
John Mahama noted that the reason why this act is continuing is because there is impunity. After all, those who have guns know that nothing will happen to them and assert that they are operative of the system.
“I saw a clear picture of one of them holding his pistol, just watch nothing will happen to them, and as long as nothing happens it will continue, that is why I said the moral voice of society must be heard”, he reiterated.
John Mahama added that the NDC is peace-loving, but it gets to a point where they need to defend themselves.
He called on the Ghana Police Service to arrest anyone who shot someone and was caught with arms
Meanwhile, in a press release by the Ghana Police Service, seven people injured have been treated and discharged while two remain in hospital with the service on the heels of the offenders.
