Francis Xavier Sosu Esq Member of Parliament for Madina has sued the Inspector General of Police and the Attorney General on behalf of some 32 protesters.
The lawsuit is challenging the arrest, the detention, the refusal of bail and several other violations including the right to protest was filed on Thursday, October 2, 2024.
The 32 protesters include Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor, Elorm Ababio Esq, popularly known as Ama Governor and Ralph Williams.
The arrested protesters are part of 53 individuals arrested during Democracy Hubs peaceful demonstration which turned chaotic after they clashed with the Ghana Police Service.
The Ghana Police Service accused the protesters of blocking roads, dismantling barriers, obstructing traffic, and damaging property at Accra’s 37 Roundabout.
Out of the 53 arrested, nine are currently in prison, while the rest remain in police custody.
