The Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyeman II, has strongly criticized Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, for his recent remarks about the Takyiman Hene. In a tweet shared by X (formerly Twitter) user @eddie_wrt, the Dormaahene expressed outrage at Otumfuo referring to the Takyiman Hene as his “younger brother.”
Osagyefo Agyeman II questioned the appropriateness of Otumfuo’s comments, stating, “Accusing people of dubious actions and then calling a respected chief like the Techiman Hene your younger brother is an insult. How can a distinguished chief be reduced to such a status? This implies that some of us are still involved in improper behavior.”
The Dormaahene called for a retraction of the remarks, highlighting that Otumfuo’s repeated comments were offensive. “He repeated this statement three times, and while the crowd cheered, it should never have been said. As a king, I have never made such comments, and they must be retracted immediately,” he asserted.
Additionally, Osagyefo Agyeman II took issue with Otumfuo’s characterization of him as “silly,” overconfident, and showy. “Otumfuo’s criticisms about my supposed foolish actions are not to be taken lightly. He is using tradition as a shield to make unwarranted attacks,” the Dormaahene added.
