The National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday, September 17, hit the streets to express their dissatisfaction with the 2024 provisional voters register by the Electoral commission of Ghana.
The Demo, themed “enough is enough” was led by the chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia and some high rank members of the party.
The party calls for a forensic audit of the voters’ register, the NDC believes that these concerns could impact the credibility of the upcoming elections.
- The opposition NDC uncovered 243,540 illegal transfers in the 2024 PVR, including copied transfers without the knowledge of the affected voters.
- 15,000 cases of untraceable voter registration paths, suggestion fraudulent registration and manipulation of voter data.
- About 3,957 deletions of voters registered in 2023 without proper justification
- 2,094 voters transferred to different polling stations.
- Corrupt files, including names and photos of registered voters.
- Electoral commission delay in transparency, the EC failed to provide the voters register for timely scrutiny.
- The Electoral Commission admits to illegal voters’ transfer but justifying it the mistakes can be corrected, which the NDC rejects due to the scale of the inconsistencies in the register.
- The NDC sees these discrepancies, errors, data distortions, and irregularities as a threat to the credibility of the upcoming elections
