Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has sent across a strong word of caution to youngster Lamine Yamal.
Admitting that Lamine Yamal is an exceptional player, Lewandoski however believes it will take a lot of hard work and discipline for the youngster to maintain his level of play.
Lewandowski, the oldest and most decorated player in the Barcelona squad appearing on Rio Ferdinand’s podcast said, “I always try to give him some advice because, on one hand, it’s incredible what he has achieved and what he’s doing, but he also has to realize that soon he’ll face the big challenge of maintaining this level and even going further.”
“And we’re not just talking about the next two or three years—maybe the next ten. About what he needs to do to stay at the top until he’s 28, 29, 30 years old or even longer. That will be the biggest challenge of his career.”
Lamine Yamal has been a great asset to the Barcelona team. The youngster has recorded six goals and eight assists in a strong start to this season.
Both Yamal and Lewandowski sustained injuries earlier this month that saw the pair pull out of their respective national teams for the recent Nations League matches.
While the Poland star is expected back soon, Yamal is unlikely to feature against Celta this week.
