Over Hundreds of residents from Gomoa Okyereko in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region have expressed their outrage by demonstrating against an estate developer, Mustapha Plus, for grading their cemetery for development purposes.
The aggrieved residents, wearing red attire and armbands, chanted war songs to signify their determination to confront Mustapha Plus “boot for boot,” even if it costs them their lives, unless authorities take immediate action.
According to them, their predecessors sold 350 acres of land to Mustapha Plus, but he has allegedly conspired with the Lands Commission to register an additional 1,500 acres. Residents voiced their frustrations to Yawa News, condemning the developer’s actions as unacceptable.
Caretaker for Gomoa Okyereko and leader of the demonstration, Nana Donkor has called on the Inspector General of Police, the National Security Minister, and President Akufo-Addo to intervene to ensure peace.
“Our cemetery has existed for over 100 years, and we are astonished to see it graded by Mustapha Plus. This is a situation we cannot accept, and we will fight until our last drop of blood,” he stated.
