Kennedy Agyapong, Assin Central Member of Parliament has expressed concern over what he described as a failure in leadership to properly inform the Speaker of Parliament about a caucus meeting held by members of their party.
Kennedy Agyapong’s comments came after Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, adjourned the House indefinitely on Thursday, November 7, due to a lack of business for lawmakers to deliberate on.
This was attributed to the failure of the Business Committee to meet and prepare the necessary agenda.
The recall session, initiated by the Majority caucus, was expected to address several critical issues. However, the Majority MPs did not appear in the Chamber.
Agyapong, speaking to the media, criticized the lack of communication, stressing that such oversights could lead to unnecessary confusion and disrupt the smooth functioning of Parliament.
“It’s important for leadership to keep the Speaker informed about such meetings, especially when decisions are being made that affect Parliament’s work.
This lack of communication can create unnecessary tension and misunderstandings within the House
The he also urged fellow parliamentarians to put the country’s interests first and ensure better coordination and transparency, emphasizing that effective governance requires open and clear communication among all members, including the Speaker.
