The Presidential candidate of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpaloo, has blasted the flagbearer of the NDC John Mahama over his comments that the PNC more worthy party than several parties on the ballot.
Speaking of a campaign engagement John Mahama noted that thirteen people have qualified to be on the ballot but claimed the PNC was wrongfully disqualified.
“The PNC is a more worthy party than several parties that I see here on the ballot paper, but that is the issue we have with the Electoral Commission, sometimes they are discriminatory because there are some people on this ballot paper who Bernard Mornarh qualifies more to be here than those people”, Mahama stated.
Reacting to John Mahama’s comments at an IPAC meeting held yesterday Kofi Akpaloo said, “All thirteen candidates are qualified and well qualified and worthy to be on the ballot, sometimes they think Maame Akua Donkor didn’t go to school, so she doesn’t qualify to be there”.
Kofi Akpaloo also revealed that the 1992 constitution does not say ones need to be educated before he or she can run to be a President of Ghana.
“There is nowhere in the constitution that says that if you cannot read, write, and speak good English should not be on it, so long as you are 40 years old and of sound mind and you can fill out your form”, he added.
He also noted that a time will come when thousands of people will apply so far as the constitution has not been amended nobody can prevent anybody.
