Ghanaians have been left in a state of shock after finding out how much outspoken business man and politician Kennedy Agyapong earns at the end of every month as a Member of Parliament (MP).
The Member of Parliament for Assin South, who is regarded as one of the richest persons in Ghana, and gives out a lot of money to his community and constituents revealed in a recent interview that, “”As an MP, I only get GHC 17,000 every month. That’s not a lot of money for all the work we do.”
This amount is much less than what many people thought MPs earned. Some Ghanaians believed MPs made huge sums of money from their jobs.
Mr Agyapong explained that being an MP is not just about making money. He said, “We work hard to help our people and make Ghana better. It’s not all about the money.”
He also talked about how he uses his own money to help people in his area. He said, “I often use my personal funds to support projects in my constituency. The salary alone is not enough to do all that needs to be done.”
Many people were surprised to hear this. They didn’t know that MPs sometimes use their own money to help their communities.
Mr Agyapong is known for speaking his mind. He often talks about important issues in Ghana. This time, he wanted people to know the truth about how much MPs really earn.
His openness about his MP salary has made many people respect him more. They say it’s good that he’s being honest about how much he earns.
