The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has pointed to the rising prices of basic food items, particularly kenkey, as a stark example of how economic conditions during his tenure were more favorable compared to the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
Speaking during a campaign tour,in bodi in the western region , john Mahama lamented the current high cost of living, noting that when he was president, kenkey, a staple food in Ghana, cost just GHS 1.
“Kenkey was GHS 1 in my time!” Mahama remarked, emphasizing the sharp contrast with today’s prices.
Mahama used this example to highlight what he described as the “miserable” economic conditions under the NPP government, citing the escalating cost of living as evidence of the government’s inability to manage the economy effectively.
