Following up to the publication on how a Police Officer of the Ghana Police Service slapped a suspect for not going down, the Ghana Police Service has interdicted the officer.
The Ghana Police Service not less than 24 hours after the video of the Police officer slapping the suspect hit the Internet, has responded to the incident. They have issued a statement condemning the act portrayed by the officer in the video citing it as unprofessionally conduct.
The Officer identified as Detective Corporal Baba Amando Ibrahim, stationed at the Tuna Police Station in the Savannah Region, has since been interdicted by the Service. According to the statement by the Ghana Police Service, his interdiction is to allow a thorough investigation into his conduct in line with the service regulations.
The IGP according to the statement has also reached out to the family of the assaulted victim and has assured them of the support they need. The Savannah Regional Command has also been tasked by the IGP to ensure that every stage of the investigation is being worked through with the family of the assaulted.
