Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has criticized the Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for the government’s failure to adequately support public schools.
Mahama highlighted that despite nearly eight years in power, there are still numerous schools in the Upper West Region that lack basic furniture.
Addressing a crowd in the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa constituency, Mahama reminded the audience that during his time as a running mate, Dr. Bawumia frequently visited villages in the region, photographing children who were forced to sit on stones due to a lack of furniture.
However, Mahama pointed out that the situation has only worsened, with approximately 1.2 million children currently attending schools without proper seating.
He further criticized Bawumia’s leadership of the government’s economic management team, calling for urgent attention to the educational sector.
