The Electoral Commission Chairperson, Jean Mensa, has boldly stated that the Electoral Commission cannot rig the 2024 elections for any presidential candidate.
According to the EC chair, Jean Mensa political parties must stop spreading fear and panic among the ordinary Ghanaians who do not know the process of the commission.
Jean Mensa said, “The EC can never make anybody the president, we know that around this table, and therefore we should not peddle misinformation fake news, and disinformation and give the impression to the citizenry, the innocent citizens who do not know the process that the Electoral Commission can make somebody a president”.
“I would like to quote from Dr Hassan Ayariga, the EC can never never never make anybody a president what the EC does is to declare who voters choose as their President”, she reiterated.
Jean Mensa also asserted that the EC does not have the intention to rig the 2024 elections for anybody nor wants to disenfranchise anybody.
She added that it is in the Electoral Commission’s interest to have a high voter turnout. “when you say that 79% turned out it is to our credit, if you look at countries around us in Nigeria they had 27% turned out, very very low and does not meet international standards”.
