Interior Ministry has imposed a curfew on Bawku Township following renewed chieftaincy clashes that has claimed about 15 lives and injured several others alongside destruction of properties worth thousands of cedis.
The curfew was imposed after an emergency National Security Meeting yesterday 28th October 2024, chaired by President Akuffo Addo.
A statement signed by deputy Interior Minister, Naana Eyiah, indicates that based on assessment of National Security Agencies, the continued presence of Seidu Abagre in Bawku poses a substantial threat to public safety and security.
To this effect, the ministry has imposed a ban on Bawku from 6:00am to 6:00pm effective yesterday to restore calm in the area.
The statement adds that the Security agencies have been directed to enforce strictly the curfew and maintain law and order.
