Gospel musician Empress Gifty has refused rumors of a supposed rivalry between her and actress Nana Ama McBrown over the use of the title “Empress.”
In a recent interview on Pure FM, Empress Gifty set the record straight, emphasizing that there is no bad blood between she and the actress despite public speculation.
According to her Empress is not just a title she borrowed but is her real name and is not bothered if anyone else uses it.
“Empress is my real name, it is a gazetted name, my name is Empress Gifty Oppong Adorye and my Showbiz name is Empress Gifty. In 2016 the car I was driving was registered Empress 16 so why would I compete or fight over a name that is mine”she disclosed.
However she still mentioned that even if the name was borrowed she would still not fight over it as there are a lot of many other ladies bearing the name ‘Empress’.
“My sister is also called Empress and I recently met one lady in town who also told me she’s called Empress so, the ladies bearing the name are a lot and the person in question is like a sister to me. Aside what you see on social media and what you during events we talk a lot on phone through texts so why would I fight her over a name?” she quizzed.
She believes that whoever is spreading the rumors is just trying to destroy the good relationship she has with the actress.
“When you allow people come into you and somebody they destroy whatever relationship you have with the person and i don’t want that because our friendship goes beyond what is seen on social media” she highlighted.
Empress Gifty concluded by encouraging women in the industry to uplift each other rather than feed into baseless rumors.
