The mother of Oliver Barker-Vormawor, Bernice Kumodzi has expressed her enormous joy as his son has been released from Police custody.
Oliver Barker-Vormawor was granted bail on October 16, 2024, after several failed attempts.
According to the mother of Oliver Barker, she is grateful that finally the son has been released from police custody after having sleepless night worrying about him.
Speaking to the media she said, “ He was not doing a bad thing before, but Ghanaians have taken it like that, if you are a mother and you hear they are hurting your child it is not something to be happy about, but in all, I thank God that he has been granted bail today.”
When I try to sleep, I cannot sleep, today I woke up at 1 am, and I thank God that they have freed him today. I arrived at the police station at 6 am from Ashaiman. We are going home, that is how all mothers like it, no woman will wish the child harm or say they are not bothered about the problem of their child. If I can, I will carry him on my back because I’m happy, she happily added.
Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a convener of the Democracy Hub had been detained for over a month after being arrested together with some 52 other protesters.
