One of the 53 Democracy Hub demonstrators who were arrested by the police, has shared the story of how some policemen maltreated him whiles he was in custody at the Nima police station.
“To me how they arrested some people was wrong and the police have worried us a lot,” he narrated on Onua TV.
The young man shared a horrifying experience which he does not wish on anyone else. While in police custody, the young man wanted to pass urine and informed on policeman who was kind enough to let him out to urinate.
“When I went to urinate, a second policeman came and asked me who asked me to urinate here, and he slapped me. He slapped me and I urinated on myself. He told me if I don’t take care he will shoot me,” he narrated.
He boldly declared that he would identify the policeman who slapped and threatened him anywhere.
The young man noted that they were treated as animals while in police custody.
The Ghana Police arrested some 53 Democracy Hub demonstrators and charged them with destruction of public property, obstruction of traffic and public disorder.
Most of these people have however been granted bail awaiting trail.
