In a fiery press conference yesterday, after announcing their upcoming three-day demonstration Raphael Afful Williams, one of the lead conveners of the Democracy Hub and the #FixTheCountry movement, revealed his bold act of defiance, breaking through the barricades at the National Cathedral to allow #EnoughIsEnough protesters access to the controversial construction site.
Viral footage shared on X (formerly Twitter) shows demonstrators swimming in the National Cathedral pit, now filled by downpours.
This has sparked widespread reactions with people questioning the priority of government and the existence of the national cathedral board and secretariat after they assured Ghanaians that the project will be completed this year
Williams did not hold back in his criticism, calling the sight of the National Cathedral’s pit now resembling a swimming pool “sad spectacle.”
A viewer on X (formerly Twitter) said, @crime_kartel If you see some of the comments under this tweet, you go know say Ghanaian youth is gone. It’s sad man.
I’m the one who broke the national cathedral gate… they can come for me – Activist who broke the barricades finally releases a press stating why he did so.
