Vincent Ekow Assafuah a Catholic and a mass server has reacted to the Catholic Church anti-galamsey protest.
Last week the Catholic Priests and members of the Church in the Accra Archdiocese embarked on a prayer walk against illegal mining in Ghana.
In a post on Facebook, the member of parliament Vincent Ekow Assafuah expressed his unhappiness with the Catholic Bishops Conference for embarking on an anti-galamsey protest about the galamsey menace in the country.
His post read, “I am a practicing catholic, a mass server, a knight of Marshall, a former Seminarian, an MP, and a Deputy Minister of State if you ask me about the move by the Catholic Bishops Conference, I would say they could have hesitated, the church can always have a better approach. I am not happy”.
President Akufo-Addo has since in a press statement dated October 9, 2024, directed the Minister for Defense to deploy additional military forces to intensify the ongoing “Operation Halt”, which aims to curb illegal mining activities.
