Vice Presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has shared his thoughts on the ongoing fight against galamsey noting that he is not against it.
Speaking at the annual National Union of Graduate students (NUGS) conference, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh urged the students union to have “an enlightened position” on the fight against galamsey, stressing on the need for the students to succeed in their advocacy.
According to him, he is not against mining and believes God blessed us with the minerals hence it should be used to our benefit.
However he advocated for it to be done right so it does not destroy our environment.
“I am 100 percent for mining, God gave us the gold for us to enhance our value, so I a not against mining but, we must have responsible mining” he said.
He advised the students to hold politicians accountable for their actions and inactions.
