Special aide to coach Kwasi Appiah, Asante Forkuo has blamed overconfidence for the Black Stars’ defeat to Sudan in the ongoing 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
In a post on X he said, ‘Hypocrisy and overconfidence killed Ghana. After Sudan drew 0-0 with Ghana, most people, including Otto Addo, were confident Ghana will beat Sudan hands-down. Otto Addo told Appiah personally, “You will not be lucky in Libya, I will beat you.”Appiah replied,”We are all Ghanaians”’.
Reacting to Ghana’s defeat and position elimination from the qualifiers, Asante Forkuo said overconfidence of Black Stars coach Otto Addo cost him the game.
Talking about the conversation that went on between Otto Addo and Kwasi Appiah, Asante Forkuo said the Black Stars coach told the Sudan manager that he was not going to be lucky for the second time.
On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, the Falcons of Sudan took a significant step toward qualifying for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco by defeating the Black Stars 2-0 solidifying their second place in the group.
