The 77-year-old Samreboi-Amoaku steel bridge in the Amenfi West district has collapsed.
The bridge which has over the years seen numerous repairs and aged poorly, finally caved in yesterday, November 14, 2024.
The bridge collapsed when a trailer loaded with hundreds of cocoa beans been transported from Mumuni to Samreboi used the bridge connecting the two towns.
The trailer is currently trapped on the bridge as a part of it has gone under water, with the valuable cocoa beans been lost in the water, and some getting soaking wet.
Fortunately, the driver of the truck and his assistance escaped any life threatening injuries
The bridge has now become inaccessible, halting all forms of transportation between the two communities.
