The Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) held its awards night Saturday, September 28 and the aftermath of the event has been explosive.
The GJA President received an earful from President Akufo-Addo after he delivered a speech reminding the president of his promise of putting his presidency on the line in the fight against illegal mining (galamsey).
CitiFM’s Edward Adeti, also mounted the stage to receive his award with his mouth tapped shut, and carrying a placard with the words “Stop Galamsey”, leaving it on the podium right in front of the President.
The highlight of the night however was when President Akufo-Addo stood up from his custom chair.
On the chair was a cushion which for all intent and purposes to make the chair more comfortable for the President. This was however not an issue for the public.
The humour for everyone was the fact that the cushion had the face/head of an elephant with it (elephant)
wearing a spectacle drawn on it.
To many, the symbol on the cushion is akin to the President, with many attributing different explanations to it.
👨🏾🍳🇬🇭✊🏾: #FreetheCitizens; What are the chances that a face of an elephant with headphones on and wearing the spectacles akin to -o-o- will be on the cushion placed on the seat the President sat on at the just ended GJA Awards?
Where are my literature scholars? What kinda poetry… pic.twitter.com/1wXNi6uRUz
