The Black Stars Coach, Otto Addo has attributed the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON to hatred that was directed to him and the team by majority of Ghanaians.
The gaffer in pre-match conference ahead of the last round of qualifiers against Niger mentioned that, the team’s inability to progress beyond the qualifying stage can be attributed to psychological factors, stating that the number of hatred that was launched at him and his players may have really gone far in affecting their performance. He said the feeling within the camp is one that is a complex one owing to the hatred speech from outside the team
He however admitted that, the team played out their best but the goal scoring prowess of the Strikers seemed missing during the game against Angola on Friday. He urged the media to rally support behind the team if indeed their aim is to see the team progress and bounce back.
The Black Stars will face Niger in their final round of qualifiers today, Monday, October 18, 2024. Niger who thrashed Sudan to amass their first three points looks forward to repeat same when they meet the Black Stars today.
No matter the results of the game, the Ghanaian team stands no where close to qualifying to Morocco in 2026. The next hope for the team might be the 2026 World Cup qualifiers
