Member of Parliament for Agona West and estranged NPP figure, Cynthia Morrison has opened up about facing recent backlash after filing to contest as independent candidate for the December polls.
Cynthia Morrison claims that these backlashes are a result of supporting Kennedy Agyapong’s presidential bid in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries in 2023.
She argues that 80% of her challenges stemmed from her decision to back her fellow MP. However, she still stands firm in her choice.
In a recent interview, the Agona West MP shared that despite facing consequences, including losing her seat as the NPP candidate for the 2024 elections, she has no regrets.
“I supported Kennedy Agyapong, and I knew there would be backlash, but I have no regrets. Throughout the campaign, I was aware Dr. Bawumia would likely win, and I would support him as an NPP member,” she stated.
She further hinted that her punishment wasn’t just political isolation but extended to other aspects of her career.
However, she did not specify the exact nature of the repercussions she faced.
Despite the pushback, Cynthia Morrison is still determined to retain her seat as MP for the constituency this time as an independent candidate in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
