The Chief Whip for the National Democratic Congress caucus in Parliament, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has claimed the NDC caucus has picked up information that the government plans to deploy the military again into parliament on Tuesday.
According to the member of parliament for Adaklu his colleague member of parliament has filed a motion, and they have details of the military officers who assaulted the MPs, and the sun has not settled on the issue is not yet.
Speaking during a press conference held by the NDC members of parliament on October 2024, MP Agbodza said, “We are aware that between yesterday and today government some element of government had a meeting again to deploy the military to the precinct of parliament to enter the tent, we are aware of that you can just ask those around Accra Sports Stadium that a point in time tomorrow they repeat the same misconduct, we can guarantee them the people of this country are sovereign, if you wear a military uniform or a police uniform you work to the constitution”.
Hon. Agbodza further went on to warn the military officers that the Akufo-Addo Bawumia government just had two months left and they would have to account for what happened on January 7, 2021.
Meanwhile, at the same press conference by the NDC caucus, Hon Agbodza pointed fingers at the Akufo-Addo Bawumia government for deploying the military to parliament in January 2021 to assault MPs.
He said, “If you notice on that faithful day of the beginning of this parliament it was the government that ordered the military and the police to enter the chamber and assault members of parliament”.
“Indeed, my colleague, honorable ehh…, filed a motion for those individuals of which we have details of those military officers and what they did in the chamber. But I can guarantee you it is not yet sunset on those issues”, the MP revealed.
