Financial analyst and economist Scott Bolshevik has weighed in on the government’s flagship program, Planting for Food and Jobs.
Scott Bolshevik, well known for her regular posts on X about issues relating to Ghana, has alleged that the government of Ghana is enriching itself through the Planting for Food and Jobs initiative rather than genuinely boosting food production.
He added that the government could significantly increase food production by promoting high school farming programs.
This comes after a video was shared on the social media platform X by Sikaofficial, showing students from Konongo Wesley SHS engaging in cabbage farming to support their school’s feeding program.
The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, said in March this year, while addressing the launch of Planting for Food and Jobs Phase II registration of farmers, that MoFA is ready to support any secondary school in Ghana willing to engage in school farming, especially those in the southern and middle belts.
Check out his post below:
If the Ghanaian government truly wanted to boost food production, they could promote high school farming programs.
Instead, the Akufo-Addo administration focuses on large-budget initiatives like “Planting for Food and Jobs” that achieve nothing, other than enriching themselves. https://t.co/o45Gijv48F
