The running mate for the Convention People’s Party, Lawyer Wayoe Ghanamanti has set clear the punishment the CPP led administration will hand over to people caught with marijuana possessions.
According to Ghanamanti who is well known in the legal case of the Achimota school against the Rastafari student said his government when elected will only deploy ghetto boys caught with “weed” possessions to the aveyime rice farms to help with the cultivation of the crop instead of being thrown into prison.
In view of that, he said the CPP government will set up state and national farms across the country to boost employment and productivity in the Agricultural and food sector.
“If you are arrested in possession of small ‘ganger’, you will be deployed to work on Aveyime rice farms.”
While addressing the crowd at the Party’s women manifesto launch in Accra on Thursday, November 14, Wayoe Ghanamanti mentioned that, people who are arrested with the weed and India hemp will rather be subjected to the rehabilitation centres more often than to imprison them. He shared that the more such individuals are getting into prison, the more government spends loads of money on their up keep.
Meanwhile in Ghana, the law states clearly the punishment that should be meted out to persons who are found in possession of illicit drugs such as weed.
