Financial analyst and economist Scott Bolshevik has exposed the Ghana Statistical Services (GSS) for claiming Ghana’s unemployment rate stands at 14.7 percent.
According to the economist reports suggesting Ghana’s unemployment rate is at 14.7 percent are totally wrong and he put Ghana’s unemployment rate at over 30 percent.
Reports by the Ghana Statistical Service have revealed the average rate of unemployment in the country has risen to 14.7 percent in the first three quarters of 2023.
Scott Bolshevik laid the blame on the doorstep of the collapse of banks by the Akufo-Addo administration, taxation, and the financial crisis of 2021 for driving the huge unemployment rates in Ghana.
Scott Bolshevik, well known for his constant commentary on issues relating to Ghana on X, particularly on the economy, on his X page and wrote, “Within 10 years GHANA unemployment rate has increased by more than 230% which stands 16% of the population. That’s over 1.4 citizens. Real unemployment rate is over 30%. This rise is driven by the collapse banks, taxation, and the financial crisis of 2021”.
