Dr. Ernest Addison the Governor of Bank of Ghana has said Ghana’s economy is doing well.
The governor stated that the macroeconomic indicators are in right directions.
Dr. Ernest Addison made this known when he addressed the 120th Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) press conference in Accra on Friday, September 27, he stated “This economy is doing very well, if you look at the exchange rate, from 2017 to 2022 the Cedi moved from 4 to 6 Cedis, the problem we saw was just for 2022. It moved from 6 to 15 but we are recovering.
He added that the committee assessment of preliminary data since their last meeting indicates the macroeconomic condition have generally improved.
The Governor stated he is happy with Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) work that they have done.
Ghanaians are experiencing economic hardship despite the BOG governor claims, with a rampant inflation that has reached almost 40% and the Ghanaian cedi to the US dollar is almost 16 cedis to $1.
Meanwhile, the Akufo-Addo Bawumia government has constantly blamed external factors such as the covid pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war for the severe hardship Ghanaians are facing.
