Ghanaian gospel musician, Ceccy Twum has expressed grave concern over the harsh living conditions many Ghanaians are facing, likening the nation’s struggles to “hell” due to the widespread systemic failures.
Speaking in an interview on Accra FM, she said, “God shouldn’t punish Ghanaians with hell because we are already in hell. That would be double punishment”.
According to her, without proper systems in place to support citizens, individuals are forced to fight for survival, leaving their families vulnerable to further hardships.
“The world is not easy right now. It takes extra effort to make it, else your family will suffer and you will retrogress. If the system is working, the poverty and hardship can be controlled, but if you live in a country without proper system, you need to fight for yourself” she said.
Recounting her first visit to the UK, she disclosed how she was moved to tears by how organized and disciplined their public transport system was as compared to that of Ghana.
“The bus system and the laws guiding them were disciplined. I wish Ghana could tap into its natural resources and develop the country instead of always relying on loans,” she noted.
Ceccy Twum urged for better management of Ghana’s natural resources to drive development and progress, stressing that the current state of affairs is holding back the country.
