Ghana has been ranked by World Data Info to be number 8 among countries globally with the lowest average IQ.
According to the report, Ghana has an average IQ score of 58.16 but faces challenges that impact cognitive abilities among its population despite some improvements in education over recent years.
The World Data Info also revealed poverty remains an issue in Ghana. Although strides have been made to reduce poverty levels compared to other countries on this list, many families still struggle with inadequate access to nutritious food.
It acknowledges Ghana’s education system has seen improvements but still suffers from disparities between urban and rural areas regarding resources and quality teaching staff.
Cultural attitudes towards education have also been identified to influence children’s academic success, some families may prioritize work over schooling due to economic hardship in the country today.
Additionally, socioeconomic factors contribute to Ghana’s relatively low average IQ score compared to global standards.
According to the data the 10 countries with the lowest average IQ scores as of 2024 are Nepal, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guatemala, The Gambia, Nicaragua, Guinea, Ghana, Ivory Coast, and South Sudan.
