Ghana Post accused of spending GhC4.1million extravagant expenditure on the Otumfuo commemorative stamp unveiled in his honour.
According to some concerned workers who spoke on conditions of anonymity, the whole expenditure was shrouded in secrecy with management trying to hide behind the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II so as to shield disclosure of the full facts.
Consequently, they are folding their sleeves and lacing their boots in preparation for a battle with management; drawing in the Office of the Special Prosecutor [OSP] in order to unravel the truth.
The concerned staff described the situation as “the gargantuan rot that has taken over Ghana Post” and called for the immediate intervention of the OSP to avert the rot.
“4.1 million cedis was used to order for the printing of crypto currency stamps and launching of the said stamps in London, and Ghana as well as other services rendered concerning the launch the commemorative stamps in May this year”.
Already, workers of the country’s courier service provider are up in arms against the leadership regarding a series of allegations and concerns.
Some of their concerns have to do with staff promotions, long service awards, retirees’ benefits and operational vehicles and staff buses.
Recently, the staff, clad in red with red armbands, alleged that generator sets procured for the Managing Director and his Deputy, Bice Obour Osei Kuffour and Kwaku Tabi Amponsah, respectively were done without transparency.
They further alleged that some saloon vehicles purchased for. The MD and his Deputy were believed to have been taken over by their wives.
