The ECOWAS court has ordered Ghana to pay compensation to Shalimar Abbiusi, a Belgian national and a spokesperson for the New Force who was rearrested and deported by Ghana.
According to Shalimar Abbiusi, the ECOWAS court ruled that her arrest and deportation were against the law and violated the human right to liberty.
Speaking in a self-recorded video to share her excitement she stated, “I am literally shaking as I share this news with you, but I have won my court case, against the state of Ghana, the ECOWAS court ruled that my rearrest and deportation were against the law and were in violation of article 6, which is the human right of liberty”.
“The state has to compensate me now, they have to pay me damages, today is an amazing day, this is victory, Justice has prevailed, and this is a beautiful day for humanity the law has done its work, and I thank God for vindicating me, there is hope for humanity, there is hope for human right and today we have written history”, she added.
