Ghana is doing something great in Africa – Dr Hopkins praises Bawumia’s electric buses

Dr. John Hopkins an X user, has applauded the vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s initiative to replace petrol cars with electric vehicles.
He stated, “Ghana is making significant progress in Africa. Transitioning to electric cars is not only cost-effective drivers can save about $700 annually on fuel but it’s also environmentally friendly, as these vehicles do not emit pollutants.”

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s plan to introduce electric buses is set to arrive in Ghana by the end of this month, aiming to revolutionize the transportation sector and significantly reduce commuting costs.
Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, the CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), has announced that the new electric buses, currently en route to Ghana, are projected to lower transportation expenses by as much as 40%.

This initiative aligns with the government’s broader vision of promoting sustainable transport solutions while tackling traffic congestion and pollution.

Nkansah emphasized that the electric buses will enhance public transportation efficiency and contribute to a cleaner, greener environment in urban areas.

In addition to cost savings, these electric buses are expected to improve the overall commuting experience for passengers. With modern amenities and reduced noise levels compared to traditional diesel buses, they will provide a more comfortable and eco-friendly alternative for daily travelers.

“Dr. Bawumia’s electric buses will arrive by the end of this month, with no fuel costs and low maintenance. Public transport fares are set to decrease by about 40%,” he added.
