The Ghana Coalition against galamsey has intensified its public campaign against illegal mining activities in the country by announcing a red band campaign effective tomorrow October 10, 2024.
The campaign seeks to raise awareness about the continued destruction of water bodies, forest reserves and the environment by galamsey activities and government’s failure to tackle the menace.
In a release dated today, the coalition urged all well-meaning citizens to wear red band on the arm or head, tie a red band to all cars, motorbikes and bicycles and share images of their protest on social media with the #StopGalamseynow #SaveOurLand #Saveourfuture.
MeanwhileOrganized Labour is set to strike tomorrow October 10 after several failed attempts to get the government to address the devastating effects of illegal mining, commonly called galamsey, on the environment.
