A senior campaign advisor to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Kwabena Agyepong, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) orchestrating chaos in the country by using galamsey, as a political tool to divert attention from their lack of a campaign message ahead of the December 7 polls.
‘’It’s just a failure of the opposition to campaign.
So now they, the opposition, of course, if you are a serious opposition who believes that you’re going to win an election, you will not be creating or orchestrating chaos in the country’’
Speaking on The Point of View programme on Channel One TV on Monday, October 7, 2024, the former General Secretary of the NPP claimed that the renewed focus on galamsey is a calculated attempt by the NDC to discredit the Akufo-Addo administration as the 2024 general elections approach.
According to him, the opposition party is deliberately amplifying the illegal mining problem to create public disaffection for the government.
