A social media user identified as Kofi Wiredu has descended on Kojo Oppong Nkrumah for being the biggest hypocrite of all hypocrites.
In a post on X, Kofi Wiredu wrote, “And here’s the biggest hypocrite of all the hypocrites. From a revered journalist to a dirty, lying and corrupt minister of state”.
The X user was reposting an old comment from the current Minister for Works and Housing Kojo Oppong Nkrumah which read, “and in Ghana its Galamsey galore. Government can act if they really want to”.
Then in opposition Kojo Oppong in a post dated back in 2016 was reacting to the news that Ghana’s neighbors Ivory Coast government shutting down more than 280 illegal mines.
It been alleged that under his government with Akufo-Addo at the helm of affairs about 1500 mining licenses have been granted.
Today in government and as the minister of works and housing the current galamsey situation is worse than what he described back then as ‘Galamsey galore” with the minister going mute.
In Accra today is the Day 2 of the Concerned Citizens Anti-Galamsey protest with hundreds of demonstrators marching from Okponglo to Parliament House, demanding action against illegal mining.
The demonstration, which will run until October 5, aims to highlight the ongoing environmental destruction caused by illegal mining, locally known as galamsey.
The protesters are also demanding the immediate release of 53 Democracy Hub protesters who were arrested and still in remand during an anti-galamsey demo some weeks ago.
