Angry Ghanaians have taken to social media to pile pressure on government and the Ghana police service to release persons arrested over the weekend for their participation in a #end galamsey now demonstration.
In a #freethecitizensnow trending number one, Ghanaians are demanding the immediate release of the 39 persons remanded in police and prison custody by Accra circuit courts 5 and 6 yesterday.
They have pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit a crime (specifically unlawful assembly), unlawful assembly, causing unlawful damage, offensive conduct conducive to a breach of peace, assault on a public officer, and defacement of public property.
