Ghana’s male national team, the Black Stars in the latest FIFA World Rankings have slipped to the 70th position.
This decline can be attributed to disappointing performances during the September international break.
In their first two matches of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, Ghana faced Angola and Niger.
The team suffered a 1-0 loss to Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium and was held to a 1-1 draw against Niger in Berkane. As a result, Ghana currently sits in third place in Group F.
Following the release of the rankings, Ghana has fallen from 64th to 70th globally. Several countries, including Georgia, the United Arab Emirates, Albania, Cape Verde, and Burkina Faso, have surpassed Ghana in the standings.
The Black Stars now ranked 14th, another decline from its 12th position in the previous year, whiles Burkina Faso and Cape Verde have move ahead in recent rankings.
Morocco now sits comfortably at the top spot in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) rankings, followed by Senegal while Egypt, Cote d’Ivoire, and Tunisia as the top five.
