Ghana social media influencer based in the US, Twene Jonas, has criticised the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei-Tutu for pretending to take actions in the fight against illegal mining (galamsey).
According to him, Otumfuo with all the power he has can bring an end to the galamsey menace in a jiffy but has refused to do so. Twene Jonas argues Otumfuo is not beyond reproach and is angry anyone dares to speak against Otumfuo Osei-Tutu is forced to apologize to him.
His reactions come after Ghanaian media personalities, Afia Pokua and Mona Gucci were forcefully dragged to Manhyia to apologize for their ‘justified’ criticism against the Asantehene.
Twene Jonas believes Otumfuo and the chiefs at Manhyia have a misplaced priority, advising them to rather chase the likes of Chairman Wontumi, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) chairman for the Ashanti Region who is engaged in illegal mining, destroying water bodies, rather than going after people who criticize the Asantehene.
