Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the member of parliament for North Tongu has exposed top National Cathedral officials for pocketing GHS2.2million taxpayers’ money for no work done in 31 months.
The Member of parliament known for his persistent expose on the misuse of state funds revealed in an X post stating, “National Cathedral Project officials have been processed by the intransigent Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government to receive their September salaries today, the 30th of September 2024”
He added that these officials are being paid despite the extreme public outrage after US$58.1million was squandered in digging the world’s most expensive pit.
“Effectively, these 3 top National Cathedral officials have received uninterrupted salaries throughout the 31 months since the US$450million project was abandoned. These monthly salary payments over the last 31 months for the Cathedral Top 3 amounts to a staggering GHS2,209,680.00”. Part on his post X wrote.

- Dr. Paul Opoku Mensah Position: Overseer of the National Cathedral Assignment/Employee Number: 1249725 Pay Date: 30th September 2024 Personal Salary Amount: GHS29,838.00 Receiving Uninterrupted Salaries Since: 7th November 2017.
- Rev. Father Ebenezer Saka Ameyaw Position: Church Relation Manager Assignment/Employee Number: 1467567 Pay Date: 30th September 2024 Personal Salary Amount: GHS20,721.00 Receiving Uninterrupted Salaries Since: 8th January 2021.
- Mrs. Rebecca Lovia Martechoo Yakpo Position: Programme Director Assignment/Employee Number: 1472910 Pay Date: 30th September 2024 Personal Salary Amount: GHS20,721.00 Receiving Uninterrupted Salaries Since: 8th January, 2021.
