A 33 year old man identified as Yaw Barima, who is a gold dealer has been stabbed to death by Yaw Apese, an ex-convict at Konongo-Odumase in the Ashanti Region.
According to an eyewitness account, Yaw Barima (Deceased) sent his younger brother on Saturday, September 21, 2024 with an undisclosed amount of money and on his way, Yaw Apese who has been described by residents in the area as an ex-convict and very notorious approached the said brother and took the money from him.
The younger brother reported to Yaw Barima who proceeded to inform the family of Yaw Apese to retrieve his money for him but was rather attacked by Yaw Apese.
“Apese flung a knife towards Yaw Barima immediately he saw him approaching his house with his younger brother. Yaw fell down and Apese attacked him again on the ground and stabbed him severally with another knife”.
When the younger brother decided to save Yaw Barima, Apese attacked him too.
The brothers were sent to the Odumase Government Hospital but the Yaw Barima was later referred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital due to the state of his condition but was pronounced dead on Sunday.
Another brother of the deceased confirmed that his brother was attacked and when they were rushing him to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, the ambulance was in a head on collision with a taxi leading to the demise of two people in the taxi so it was another car that transferred the deceased to the Hospital.
“We made a complaint to the police and Yaw Apese was arrested whiles my other brother is receiving treatment at Odumase Government Hospital”, he added.
