The Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Ophelia Mensah Hayford has dodged a question relating to illegal mining popular known as galamsey.
Speaking in an interview with JOY News, the minister was asked to comment on galamsey, but she refused and redirected the questions to the Ministerial Committee on illegal during her tour of the Ashanti Region.
“No, I am not going to say anything about galamsey, there is a steering committee sit up by the President chair by the Minister for Land and Natural Resources, and so there is a committee in charge of galamsey”.
The minister reiterated that they are in Ashanti Region to see the impact of landscape restoration project and not about galamsey. “I am not here for galamsey” she stated boldly,
