After winning the case against her unlawful treatment and deportation case against the Republic, the ECOWAS Court has ordered that, Ghana compensates Shalimar Abbiusi, the former New Force Spokesperson.
Her case was ruled in her favor on the grounds of human rights violation following her arrest and deportation from the country, when she was alleged to have forged documents to stay in the country.
The Belgian national who spoke for Nana Kwame Bediako at the inception of his Presidential race intent, wa arrested on December 4, 2023 and put before court on the case of a falsification of documents as a Christian University College Student to obtain a residence permit in Ghana. She was subsequently deported after being granted bail and allowed to go by the national security.
She was represented at the ECOWAS court by the Member of Parliament for Madina, Lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu and lawyer Belinda Narkey Quaynor. Following their victory, the New Force in a statement reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring a fair application of the law across the continent.
They further called on civil society organisations, human rights advocates, and the international community to condemn such violations and support efforts to reform governmental institutions.
