The Executive Director of the Africa Center for Energy Policy (ACEP), Benjamin Boakye, has revealed that the Electricity Company of Ghana and Hubtel are reporting different figures in ECG payment to Hubtel to develop an app.
Speaking on TV3 The key points, Benjamin Boakye stated that ECG says it paid Ghc171 million to Hubtel to develop an app, reports suggest Hubtel received $25 million. Who is telling the truth?
He added ECG claimed their in house built app was hacked and their solution was to shut down that system and outsource they service. “if you have seen a problem you resolve it internally, if people have to be sack you sack them and bring in engineers that would add value but they decided to outsource to Hubtel at an exorbitant cost to the company”.
It has been reported that the US$25 million paid for the app was outrageous and could have been done with US$20,000.
Samuel Dubik Mahama, Managing Director (MD) of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), officially resigned but refused to give his reason for resignation.
Could this latest revelation be the reason for his resignation?
