Edward Bawa, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bongo constituency has questioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has kept the lights on but at what cost.
According to the Member of Parliament, whoever wins the 2024 elections is straightaway heading into an energy crisis.
Speaking on Metro TV Good Morning Ghana, Edward Bawa said, “If you look at what the finance minister is doing, he is tic tolling around the problems of the Energy sector in terms of the debt, just waiting for December 7”.
“The reason is that it is a big mine that is waiting to explode, and I have always liked the question you ask everybody anytime I am watching your program, we have kept the light on at what cost?”, he questioned.
Edward Bawa further asserted that after the 2024 elections Ghana is heading straight into an energy crisis, saying, So, if you have a situation where you have such indebtedness, I just want to make this point whether it is Bawumia who wins these elections, whether it is Cheddar, Kyeremanten, or John Mahama, whoever wins these elections is moving straight into an energy crisis”.
Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama has revealed the Akufo-Addo government plans to pass a debt of almost $2 billion in the Energy sector to the next NDC government.
He noted the NDC are truthful people and when they come into office, they inform Ghanaians about the situation adding that the NDC has the men and women to fix the energy crisis for Ghanaians to have peace of mind.
